Where is Kyron Horman?

Kyron Horman aged 7 went missing on June 4th 2010 when he did not arrive home from Skyline Elementary School in Portland, Oregon.

On June 4th 2010, Kyron was taken to school by his stepmother Terri who stayed with him while he attended a science fair. Terri stated that she left the school around 8.45am and remembered seeing Kyron walking down the hall to his first class, however Kyron never made it to class; instead he was marked absent for the entire day and has not been seen since.

Terri's statements to the police indicate that after leaving the school at 8.45am, she ran errands at a grocery store until around 10.10am. Between 10.10am and 11.39am, she states that she drove around town in an attempt to soothe her daughter who had a earache with the motion of the vehicle. Terri went to the local gym at 11.39am and worked out until around 12.40pm. By 1.21pm she had arrived home and posted photos on facebook of Kyron at the science fair earlier that morning.

At 3.30pm Terri, her husband Kaine and their daughter Kiara, walked to the school bus stop to meet Kyron. The bus driver informed them that Kyron had not boarded the bus after school. The bus driver was asked to call the school and ask where Kyron was. She was informed by the school secretary that Kyron hadn't been in school since earlier that day and had been marked absent. She reported to the secretary that the parents did not have Kyron and therefore was missing. The secretary then called the 911 call center using a private phone number assigned to the Portland public school district to report that Kyron was missing, the 911 call center then reported this information to the police.

Local and state police, along with the FBI conducted an extensive search for Kyron including the wooded areas around Kyron's home and school with help from hundreds of volunteers and launched a criminal investigation.

In late June in the midst of the investigation into Kyron's disappearance, Kyron's biological father Kaine was reportedly told by investigators that his wife Terri had offered their landscaper " alot of money" to kill him. Rodolfo Sanchez, the landscaper said in a deposition that she approached him to help kill her husband five months before the boy's disappearance. Investigators convinced the landscaper to confront Terri while wearing a wire, but they were unable to obtain any evidence and therefore did not make an arrest.
On June 28th Kaine Horman filed for divorce and obtained a restraining order against his wife. The divorce was granted and Terri was eventually granted supervised visitation with her daughter.

On June 1st 2012, Kyron's mother Desiree Young filed a lawsuit against Terri claiming that she is "responsible for the disappearance of Kyron". The civil lawsuit would attempt to prove that Terri had kidnapped Kyron. Desiree was seeking $10,000,000 in damages from Terri. On August 15th 2012, federal court judge denied the motion by Terri to delay the lawsuit.
On July 30th 2013, it was announced that Desiree had dropped the lawsuit against Terri: With "great disappointment", the mother of Kyron Horman said Tuesday she is dropping a civil suit against Terri because she doesn't want to jeopardise the police investigation. "Because my civil case can't go forward without the police criminal investigation file, it's with great disappointment I make this difficult decision", Desiree told reporters. Desiree was tearful as she spoke at the press conference outside the Multnmah county courthouse in downtown Portland. She said in order for her lawyers to move forward with the suit, they need the police file - which they can't have during an active police investigation.

May 2017 news article
The article says that over the last few months, search and rescue crews have quietly conducted searches in connection with the Kyron Horman investigation.
In late September, searches from several police agencies scoured an area along highway 30 near Sauvie Island. The Multnomah county sheriff's office would not comment on what investigators were looking for, whether they found anything or what led them to search that location in Northwest Portland.
Detectives hope a digital trail will help provide clues into the whereabouts of Kyron Horman. " They are working computer forensic information and evidence that they've gotten that's come to light recently" explained Desiree.
Multnomah county investigations declined to provide details about the new evidence. A source with knowledge of the investigation said police recently examined a laptop computer that used to belong to Kyron's stepmother Terri.
Police have long focused their attention on Terri, she took Kyron to school the day he disappeared she has never been charged although in 2012 Multnomah county circuit court judge Henry Kantor called her a prime suspect in the investigation, Terri has repeatedly denied any involvement in Kyron's disappearance. "I need people to know I did not harm my son" Terri explained during a national television interview on Dr Phil in September. "I personally believe the step mom has something, some knowledge of what happened to Kyron" said Victims rights advocate John Walsh in an interview with KGW.
Detectives looking into Kyron's disappearance have taken special interest in Terri's recent legal problems in California.
